In addition to two periods of Mathematics, two periods of Literacy, Social Studies, and Science, all students participate in additional courses that enrich their learning, provide additional application or prepare our students to become responsible and successful citizens.

Every Day:

A Disciplined Life
A Disciplined Life is the 26 principles our schools are founded upon, and it is also a class. In ADL, as most students refer to it, students discuss the application of the principles through a wide range of topics from personal to global.

Honors and Advanced Placement

12th grade students may take Advanced Placement Biology.  Honors English is available to 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students.

Electives

Cal High currently offers Spanish, Music, Healthy Lifestyles, and Journalism.

Weekly:

Freshman Academy (9th Grade)
Freshman Academy is all about providing 9th graders with the skills they need to transition from middle school and succeed in high school. Students work on study skills, note taking, research, public speaking and more.

Field Studies (all grades)
These academically rigorous field trips take students out into the real world to apply the skills they have learned in the classroom, or to further enrich their studies at libraries, museums, universities and more.

Social Justice (10th Grade)
This class is dedicated to helping students tackle contemporary social justice issues. Students study issues and learn how to effectively take a leadership role to fight for issues important to them and to be responsible citizens.

Internships (11th Grade)
All juniors spend first semester preparing for an internship by assessing their career interests and learning the norms of office culture. During second semester students are paired with a mentor in a field of their interest, spending an entire day twice a month gaining real world experience in a profession.

College Prep (11th & 12th Grade)
All 11th and 12th grade students take College Prep classes to prepare for life after Perspectives. Students work on college applications and essays, scholarships, financial aid forms and goal setting to ensure they are prepared to succeed at the college or university of their choice.
